Description
VideoWorkshop on Lead Climbing part 3 includes:
- Introduction to catching climber’s fall after falling off the wall and the reasons why it should be trained quite often;
- Static and dynamic belaying;
- Catching falls from the first bolt;
- “Take” above the bolt – safe ways to avoid climber hitting to the wall;
- Dynamic ways of catching the fall;
- Climber’s commands and phrases and belayer’s behaviour before and during the climber’s fall;
- Safe ways of falling off the wall depending on the situation – including distance to the ground, protruding elements of the rock, as well as belayer’s location towards the last bolt, both in a vertical and a horizontal surface;
- Climber’s behaviour during the fall, as well as its slowdown;
- A psychological aspect of lead climbing and ways of dealing with the fear of falling off the wall;
- Comfortable and safe ways of training falling off the wall and catching climber’s falls;
- Influence of falling off the wall on the consumption of the rope and ways of reducing it;
- Impact of multiple falls on the property of shock-absorption of the rope;
- Examples of different falls (including very long ones), caught smoothly and safely by the belayer with the use of presented techniques of dynamic belaying.
